May 3 - Exciting things are happening on the farm & Cow is about to pop with the news! Stay tuned for more... |
Cow likes taking photos of her friends. |
May 5 - Cow caught someone digging while she was taking photos on the farm... |
Big-boy Sasha enjoying lazing in the sun. |
George likes to be held like a football & have his chin scratched.
He would happily stay in my arms all day if he could.

"...so God made a Farmer." |
FarmHer. Strong. Kind. Loving. Caring. Mother. Wife. Sister. Friend. Caretaker. Steward. Daughter of the King of Kings. Helpmate. Teacher. Veterinarian. Compassionate. A lady. Loyal.
These & so many more describe the woman who gave my brother & I life, who works harder & longer than any other person I know, who cares about humans & animals alike, & who I get to call Mommy. |
My momma-in-law is one of a kind. She raised the man of my dreams & welcomed me into their family with open arms. :-) I'm blessed to be your adopted daughter. |
Cow can't see if she sits on the seat, so she rides shotgun on the dash. 1) I am not driving, & 2) there are no laws stating cows have to wear seatbelts. |
May 10 - 3 a.m. might not be my favorite time for waking (dairy farmher yet not a morning person ), but the ladies still have to be milked. The stars sure are beautiful though in the crisp 33°! |
May 11 - The planter is out! Dad is getting it set-up & ready to roll. While we haven't started #Plant16 officially, we have been getting some of the fields fertilized & fitted. The weather looks like it is going to cooperate; hopefully we can get a lot accomplished in the next week or so. |
May 11 - It's a beautiful day to roll dirt. (And I have the AC on in the tractor!) |
The cultipacker is the last implement to go over the fields before planting. The rollers break-up any chunks of clay while the teeth smooth out & fill-in holes. Hubby or I typically run this one. |
May 11 - It's official, #Plant16 has begun! The first field of corn! |
May 12 - Cow thinks that tractor driving is fun |
May 16 - The wind is sweeping over the freshly snow-capped peaks of the Adirondack mountains & across Lake Champlain...❄ |
Cow & I mowed the first field of hay yesterday!
#Plant16 isn't over but the hay is ready, so #Hay16 began. |
May 19 - I believe this is what one would call scattered showers...Will we get the hay in before it gets wet? We're hoping! . #Hay16 during #Plant16 |

May 20 - Calf 454 is currently my oldest baby. We share a birthday month (March)! She is also my best eater - she will devour whatever she can get her mouth on, including my phone hence this photo. |

May 22 - Happy Birthday to my mommy!
"An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life." ~ Proverbs 31:10-12 (NKJV) ~ |
May 23 - Happy Birthday to my daddy! |
This is how this farmHer keeps cool with a non-AC tractor... |
When you work around loud machinery as often as farmers do, hearing protection is extremely important. While my dad and brother both wear earmuffs, I prefer ear plugs like these. |
I kinda love where I live... |

May 24 - This little girl was not easy to catch!
.
She was born sometime yesterday to a cow that was not due yet, so they were still out to pasture.
.
When we found this little thing she was trying to eat off a heifer that was not her mother & momma was MIA. (Sometimes dairy cows couldn't care less about their offspring.)...
.
Hubby, Mom & I finally caught baby girl (calves get-up within minutes of birth & can usually run quite well soon after ); she got a ride up to the dry & warm barn where I gave her some yummy milk another momma cow produced.
.
Welcome to the world, Eliza-Jane! We're sure glad we found you before a coyote did!

May 25 - Our family has been putting in some long days this week...I was in this very tractor for close to 10 hours yesterday! . With the rain holding off we've been able to cover numerous acres & an extensive amount of corn seed has been placed in the ground. |
May 26 - Last night (Wednesday) we finished planting corn, & today we made a good dent in the soybeans! #Plant16 |
May 28 - God is good, all the time. We finished planting corn on Wednesday, & Friday evening saw the completion of #Plant16 when the last of the soybeans went in the ground - hallelujah! :D
And no, there is never a shortage of seagulls when working land or haying... ;) |
